So I’ve heard mixed takes on lighting up before a tattoo session. Some people swear it helps them chill and sit longer, others say it makes the pain worse or has them spiralling about design choices halfway through.

Personally, I’ve tried it once — it did calm the nerves, but I also ended up hyper-focusing on every single needle poke . Not exactly the vibe I expected.

Curious where y’all land on this.

Yeah mate, it really depends on the person. For some, a smoke before ink takes the edge off, but for others it just makes the pain or overthinking worse.

Best call? Stay sober through the session, then celebrate after — way less chance of second-guessing mid-needle.

Just make sure you ask the tattoo artist if they dont mind as it would be very annoying too be a tattoo artist and having a patient high without them knowing about it
